L  Makeup Studio

How it works/Safety: DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is a sugar based derivative that has been approved by the FDA for over 30 years. It reacts with the outer layers of your skin to create a natural looking tan. The immediate color you see is a cosmetic bronzer that mimics the color you will see in the coming hours. The Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) confirm that spray tan and self-tanning products are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding (lactating mothers may choose to avoid the breast area during the breast feeding stage).
Although there are no known dangers of using tanning products, they can sometimes cause an allergic reaction, particularly during pregnancy when hormone levels are high and skin becomes more sensitive. Always consult your physician if any concerns.

What to do before you tan:
*Exfoliate, we can't stress this enough. It’s extremely important to start with a fresh, clean layer of skin. Exfoliating will ensure a longer lasting, more even tan. Be sure to avoid oil based products, and focus on hydrating rough body areas, like your knees, elbows and feet. We also recommend avoiding Dove bar soap prior to tanning as it can leave a residue that prevents even application.
* Shave, Wax, or any other form of hair removal should be done 24hrs prior to tanning.

Pedicures and manicures should be done before you tan.
The day of your spray tan, avoid lotions, perfumes, or deodorants. Excess oils can prevent absorption during application. If tanning your face, you will also want to remove makeup (eye makeup is okay).
*You may tan in as much or as little as you like. We can also provide disposable tops and bottoms if you'd prefer. Men are required to wear undergarments.

What to do after:

*Right after your tan wear something dark and loose, please no jeans or tight fitting clothes as this may disrupt the tan. Please be aware that the tanning solution contains a cosmetic bronzer that may transfer to your clothing until you rinse.
*Stay dry, sweating can also cause streaking to the cosmetic bronzer, so avoid the gym tight clothes and other strenuous activity until after you rinse.

After your Spray Tan : warm water rinse after minimum 2hrs or longer, fully develops after 12-24hrs.
*Use a gentle cleanser and avoid exfoliating until you are ready for your next tan. Exfoliating encourages skin renewal and should only be done before you tan.
*Hydrated skin will hold a spray tan longer. Moisturize twice daily. Always use SPF to protect your skin.
